Chiropractic care is a journey to improved mobility, pain relief, and overall wellness, and we are honored to be part of your health journey.
To help you maximize the benefits of your treatment and understand what to expect moving forward, we’ve provided some important information below:
It’s common to notice some changes in how your body feels in the hours or days following your treatment. These are all part of the healing process as your body adjusts:
Increased Energy or Relaxation: Many patients report feeling lighter, more relaxed, or even energized after their first adjustment. These are signs that your nervous system is responding positively to the treatment.
Soreness or Muscle Tenderness: Some patients do experience some pain similar to how you might feel after a good workout, you may notice mild muscle soreness. This occurs because your body is adjusting to its new alignment, and muscles are engaging differently to support these changes. This tenderness happens because of one of two reasons. We are attempting to change things that have been crooked for a while, and the body is trying to pull back to where it is used to. “think of braces on your kids teeth”. Or you recently had an injury and the area we are working on is inflamed. Rest assured, these symptoms are short lived.
Symptom Fluctuation: Some patients may notice temporary intensification or shifting of their symptoms. This is normal as your body works to balance itself and reduce inflammation.
If you have any concerns about how you’re feeling, please don’t hesitate to reach out—we’re here to guide you every step of the way.
To support your body as it adapts to the adjustments, consider the following self-care recommendations:
1. Stay Hydrated: Drinking plenty of water helps flush out toxins released during the adjustment and supports healthy circulation.
2. Move Gently: Light stretching or walking can help your body adjust to the changes. Avoid strenuous activity for the next 24-48 hours unless otherwise instructed. Also refrain from recreating the crime scene, the positions or activities that aggravate your pain.
3. Listen to Your Body: If you feel tired, take time to rest. Healing requires energy, and your body may need extra care as it restores balance.
4. Apply Heat or Ice: If you feel any discomfort, applying a cold or warm compress can provide relief. Use ice for inflammation and heat to ease muscle tension. For more information click here https://www.mindbodyspinechiro.com/blog/hot-vs-cold-a-chiropractors-opinion.html
